Frequently Asked
Questions
- Where are you located?
We are located in Franklin, Tennessee, about 15 miles south of Nashville.
- How long have
you been in business?
Since 1996.
- Where did the name TimeKeyper come from?
When deciding on his first email address, being a drummer, Mike wanted to have an address that properly portrayed what he did for a living. "timekeeper" was already taken on AOL. So the alternate spelling of "timekeyper" was what it became.
- What do I need
to send you to get started on my recording?
All we need is 50% down payment and a CD or tape of any songs that you've written or chosen to record. The demo tape that you send us should be at least vocal and piano or guitar.
- Can you record
a full band?
Yes. We can record a full band at the same time. We can even provide
each player with their own independent headphone mix for their
comfort. We also have a custom made drum kit that is mic'd up and
ready to go at a moments notice.
- Can I get one
or both of you to play on my record without coming to your studio?
Yes. Check out our "Remote Recording" page to see the details on how
we can make this happen.
- Do you have
access to original songs that we can choose from?
Yes. We
can get songs from writers, record companies and publishers in
Nashville. However, you should note that choosing to record a song
written by another writer requires you to pay royalties for each of
the songs that you record for each CD that you sell.
- Who can you
get to play on my recording?
Having been in Nashville since 1992 and having played on sessions
and tours since that time, we have met and played with some of the
best and most recorded musicians in this town. If there is someone
in particular that you want on your recording, the chances are
really good that we have already played with them and have a good
relationship with them.
- I'd love to
record an album, but I can't afford to take off two weeks from work
to do it. How can I reconcile my problem?
With Fedex®
and the Internet, a lot can be done without you needing to be in
Nashville. We'll record the album in segments. It's like
putting a puzzle together by first establishing proper tempos and
key signatures, then by putting together arrangements that you are
happy with. Once that's done, we can begin adding all the live
players and vocals. We'll constantly send you updates via
Fedex® and MP3's via the Internet. In this way you are totally involved with all aspects of the recording. The only time you will need to come to Nashville is when we're ready to record the lead vocals.
If, on the other hand, you have the time to spare and want to be
involved in every aspect of the recording, we will try to
accommodate your available timeframe.
- Does
TimeKeyper Music do CD duplication?
No we don't. There are many companies that do this well and we would just rather stay involved with the musical aspect of the recording and leave the graphics and duplication to the people that do this for a living. Our favorite company to work with is DiscMakers. They can provide you with artwork, duplication, UPC labels, advice, etc. Visit their website and request a free catalog.
